Gilbert Diving - Commercial Diving Specialists - Core sampling

Core Sampling

Our commercial divers execute a variety of core sampling operations usually to assist engineers, councils and government departments to analyse bridge and structure integrity. Core sampling may be required by engineers as a result of an inspection by Gilbert Diving.

Depending on the material being cored and the size requirements of the client, we will source and use the necessary size and type of core barrel required, for example we use quality diamond tipped core barrels of various sizes. The core samples are then sent to the laboratory/metallurgist for analysis.

Gilbert Diving use NDT (non destructive testing) in coordination with core sampling to analyse and evaluate the integrity of bridge, piles, piers & underwater structures. Through the NDT method of testing there is no permanent alteration or damage done to the structure.

We also do bottom sampling and surveys of river beds, sea beds, creek beds and dam beds. Through bottom sampling we are able to report on the underwater terrain for pre-construction analysis reports as part of environmental surveys, asset management and dredging. Methods we use for bottom sampling include vibra coring where poly tubes are driven to refusal depth allowing the samples to be collected intact.

Water sampling at different depths is sometimes required by government authorities around intakes, discharge pipes and diffusers.
At Gilbert diving we have and continue to sustain an outstanding safety record. We are committed to working in and maintaining a safe and professional work environment at all times through our successful safety management system.
